SHORT HISTORY
The Easter Pittapies They are a typical dessert from the Vibo Valentia area, prepared for Easter but also present on Christmas tables. Legend has it that they bear the name of the "pious souls," meaning they commemorate the pious women who prayed and shed tears at Christ's tomb for his death. The purpose of this dessert is to celebrate the arrival of Easter. In fact, its preparation begins on Good Friday, to commemorate the Passion of Christ. The three circles made on the disk covering the filling recall the Trinity of God.Traditionally, they are served on the table on Easter night because it is meant to signify: “Weep no more: Christ is Risen!”
